Killara Residential Masterpiece

Architect, Yvonne Haber www.yvonnehaberarchitect.com, in conjunction with builder, Michael John johnhunt@tig.com.au, created this residential masterpiece.

Light, clean and crisp colours were used inside to enhance the architectural elements of the house.

The exterior timber gables were painted with Sikkens Supernatural www.tenaru.com.au and the outside walls were painted with Murobond www.murobond.com.au. The lower sections of the walls were painted a rich brown colour to provide a break to the off-white on the upper section.

Dental Surgery - Neutral Bay

This modern dental surgery required painting to the waiting room, reception area and surgeries. The chocolate brown feature wall coupled with lime green furnishings and deep purple walls created a rich, stylish and bold entrance. The use of light neutral colours in the hall-ways and surgeries provided contrast and a clean crisp feel. The colour scheme evolved during consultation with the client.

The doors are painted with silver coloured Galmet Hammered Metal Finish. This textured (dimpled) finish gives the impression that the door is solid metal.

Terrace Restoration

Terrace Restoration - Randwick

This terrace building required restoration to timber windows and posts as well as repainting. Detailed preparation of weathered areas was carried out prior to painting.

A heritage colour scheme of Deep Brunswick Green, Regency White and Portland Stone was applied. Dulux paints were used in all areas.

Striped Wall

Vertical Stripes

Vertical stripes give the illusion of higher ceilings and provide an interesting alternative to solid block colours. This room has alternate stripes of flat off-white and gold Dulux Pearlustre. The lower section, below the chair rail, is a faux copper finish.

Pearlustre Feature Wall

Mother-of-Pearl Wall

This wall was painted using Dulux Pearlustre. This paint gives a lustrous, translucent, mother-of-pearl finish. The finish for this paint will vary dependent on application method, in this case is was done by brush using long vertical strokes.

Sky Ceiling with gold leaf

Sky Ceiling

A sky ceiling adds dimension and depth to a room. The soft wispy clouds are achieved using a spray gun and a range of white tones.

This sky ceiling is accentuated by the gold leaf ceiling rose and the gold leaf cornice that surrounds it.

Gold Leaf Border

Gold Leaf

This decorative border, 40mm wide, was painted with Dulux Suede Effects over the lighter Suede Effects background. A 5mm gold leaf border was then applied. The gold leaf was 23 carat transfer gold.

Below the chair rail is a polished plaster finish called Stucco Veneziano, which has an elegant, glass-like appearance.

Leichhardt Church - Faux Sandstone

Faux Sandstone - Leichhardt Church

The arch way and surrounds were decorated with painted faux sandstone finish. Each block is hand painted to give the effect of a solid stone construction.

Faux marble columns were also painted either side of the icons.

Sky Ceiling with Angels

Sky Ceiling with Angels

To take a sky ceiling to the next level, figures such as angels can be added. Rooms with high ceilings lend themselves to added figures as the angels can be viewed more easily from a distance and you don't feel as though they are right on top of you.

Waterfall Mural

This mural was designed as a pool surround and to blend in with the landscaping. This otherwise lifeless concrete wall was hand painted with acrylic paints. The design was a combination of ideas and pictures that the client presented.

One of the benefits of this mural was that it created the illusion of space within the cramped area.

Olsens Funerals - Sutherland

Oslens Funerals, located in the Sydney suburb of Sutherland, required repainting to modernise the look of the building. Resene Lumbersider low sheen tinted to Resene Gargoyle was used on the shingles and walls. This tradesmen-friendly product provided excellent coverage and was aesthetically pleasing.
